How Difficult is It to Get Rid of Student Loan Debt in My Bankruptcy

Every week or so at one of our Oregon or Washington Bankruptcy Law Offices, someone will come in to see me for a bankruptcy consultation, insisting that they will be able to get rid of their student loan debts because they represent an “undue hardship.” While it is true that an Oregon or Washington Bankruptcy Court may discharge a student loan where paying it back would represent an undue hardship, it is important to remember how difficult a standard that is to meet.
